Baa! Moo! Woof! Neigh! Meow! Hoot!

In pet language, that means, “Please bring me to church with you on Sunday, Oct. 8. when we will celebrate St. Francis with the blessing of all creation and our animals at our 9:30 a.m. service.

The Blessing of the Animals is a long-standing tradition at St. Stephens --  much anticipated by both children and adults. While we listen and talk about God’s unconditional love for us at church each Sunday we see examples of unconditional love in many of our animal companions at home the rest of the week. This event is an opportunity to acknowledge our animal companions' love.

For those children who may not be able to have pets because of allergies or family situations we encourage them to bring favorite stuffed animals or toys for a blessing as we respect every member of God’s family and the things they care about.

If your pet can’t attend, please feel free to come forward with a photo or cell phone image for a blessing and that same message of inclusion and love will be amplified.

And we’ll remember those pets who are no longer with us, but still hold a special place in our hearts.

Honoring All Who Support Learning

We know Jesus as a healer, a priest, a prophet, a savior, and as a great teacher.

On September 10th we honored and blessed all those who support learning in this new school year: Students, Teachers, Professors, Deans, Provosts, Principals, Bus Drivers, Librarians, Teacher Assistants, Office Staff, Hall Monitors, Bus and Cafeteria workers, Safety Officers, Nurses, the Maintenance staff, Tutors…. and all those who serve our educational communities.
