Advent Guided Harp Meditation

Wednesday, December 21, 2022 - 7:00 pm

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. (Isaiah 9:2)

Advent invites us to settle into a season of movement from a deepening darkness into light. On December 21st, the Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the calendar year. For millennia, people have acknowledged this time of year to celebrate the end of the dark time and a return to the light. The Gospel of John assures us the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.

This guided meditation invites us into a time of rest and reflection that counters the frenetic pace of the pre-Christmas season. We are called to wait, to hope, to trust in promises made. As we come to the end of our Advent journey, we become hopeful in darkness waiting to become alive in the light.
